ecodownunder

why eco?

When we started ecodownunder in 1997 we wanted to create something that would provide better environmental options for the home.

In the past the production of cotton was ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable but modern practices have produced a heavy reliance on toxic chemicals.

People are becoming more aware of their environmental footprint and the affect it has on their families health. They are demanding better choices in the products they buy.

By keeping our eye firming on the quality, integrity, and design of our products, whilst keeping our costs low, we believe we can make eco-conscious products accessible to everyone.

There are many things we do to make our products better for the environment that do not cost the earth. Some examples:

 - No chemical coatings
 - No synthetic fabrics
 - Pollution free oxygen whitening
 - No chlorine bleaches
 - Naturally coloured cotton that does not need dyes
 - Biodegradable packaging

Our first organic cotton sheets came from Turkey and the only colour we could get was that “cooked chicken” colour. They cost over $300 for a sheet set. It has been a lot of hard work, but we are now able to provide queen size certified organic cotton sheet sets in a range of colours for only $99. Even better, we make them up right here in Australia.

“Eco” no longer means a compromise on quality, value or design.

Thank you for your support.

why downunder ?

Ecodownunder wouldn’t exist without the support of our local community. We feel that it is important to return that support.

Australian made:
80% of our products are made up here in Australia, including all ecodownunder bed linen, quilts, underblankets and pillows. We try to have as much Australian content as we practically can. Our prices are low because you are buying direct.

Sponsorships:
Our community supports us by buying our products. In return we support local community groups through sponsorships and fundraising.

We were blown away when we heard that Melanie Redman-Carr had been on the world surfing tour for 10 years, but did not have a sponsor to help cover travel costs. As Melanie competes in what must be one of the most environmentally sensitive Australian sports, we just had to get involved. Melanie went on to finish second in the world title in 2006.
MRC RL
RR As another way of saying thanks to the local communities that support us, we are sponsoring some of our local kids to achieve their dreams. Remy Randall, with the support of her father, Scott, is ripping it up in the local surfing competitions. Good luck Remy, and keep it up.
Surf lifesavers volunteer their time so that our beaches are safe for our kids. The Warriewood beach march past team, looked fabulous this season in their ecodownunder cossies.

Fundraising:
We support many community groups with donations and raffle prizes. If you have a worthy cause, give us a call and we will try to help if we can.
